Searches the 209M-contact people database by job title, company, company HQ country, seniority, department, industry, technology and company size.

Searches the 209M-contact people database by job title, company, company HQ country, seniority, department, industry, technology and company size. Use it to find decision makers. For companies only use search_companies. For people already visiting your website use get_leads. Searching uses no credits and never returns email or phone. Each search counts against the plan's search limit. Errors: 403 'Your plan does not allow the prospector'; 429 'You exceed the limits' with a reason: either the plan's search limit is used up, or the call came less than a second after the previous search (wait and retry; a refused call is not counted). Returns { total, people[], note }. Rows come in shuffled order, at most count per page, with profileId, name, firstName, lastName, jobTitle (the title that matched), jobTitles, position, company/companyName, companyDomain, companyLocation {city, country, countryCode} (null when unknown), companyInfo, seniority, department, linkedin, emailStatus, hasEmail, hasPhone. Next steps: reveal_contact (1 credit) when hasEmail or hasPhone is true, otherwise find_contact_email.

When to use it
Use search_people when you want new people who match a description: job title, seniority, department, industry, company size, technology or country.
Use something else when:
- You want people who visited your website: that’s
get_leads. - You want companies, not people: that’s
search_companies. - You already know the person and want their email: that’s
reveal_contact, with theprofileIdfrom a search.

Good to know
- Results never include emails or phone numbers.
hasEmailandhasPhonesay whether we hold them;reveal_contactgets them for 1 credit each. locationsis the company’s headquarters, not where the person lives. Country names (“United States”) and continents work.- List common spellings of a title: pass both “CTO” and “Chief Technology Officer”.
- 25 results per page by default. Use
pagefor more rather than a hugecount. - Searching doesn’t use credits, but counts toward the plan’s Prospector search limit.
Common mistakes
- Putting company names in
titles. Companies go incompanies. - Treating
employeesMin/employeesMaxas revenue. They’re headcount. - Inventing filters such as
revenueorcity.search_peopledoesn’t have them, thoughsearch_companiesfilters on revenue.
