# Install the tracking pixel

> Install the pixel with Google Tag Manager, WordPress or a snippet of HTML, then check it works.

Every section below does the same job: in the dashboard (Guide), from your code (API) or through an AI assistant (MCP).

## Guide — In the dashboard

Source: /docs/websites/tracking-pixel

The pixel identifies your website visitors. Install it once, on every page, with the method that fits your website.

<DemoFrame guide="install-pixel" to="/setup-tracking-script/{workspace}" />

1. **Pick a method:** Google Tag Manager, WordPress or HTML.
2. **Paste the code** in the head of every page, or send it to your developer.
3. **Verify** it: the dashboard shows when it last saw a visit.

### Every control on this screen [#every-control-on-this-screen]

## API — From your code

Authenticated with `?privateKey=YOUR_KEY` (see [Authentication](/docs/authentication)).

<Endpoints ops={["GET /v3/websites/{websiteId}/pixel", "POST /utilities/verify-website", "PUT /v3/account/tracking-settings"]} />

<ApiPlayground
  ops={["GET /v3/websites/{websiteId}/pixel", "POST /utilities/verify-website", "PUT /v3/account/tracking-settings"]}
  method="get"
  path="/v3/websites/{websiteId}/pixel"
  tool="get_tracking_pixel"
  args={`{
  "websiteId": "64b7f0a1c2d3e4f5a6b7c8d9"
}`}
/>

### Use case: Install for a client [#use-case-install-for-a-client]

`GET /v3/websites/{websiteId}/pixel` returns the snippet; `POST /utilities/verify-website` checks it is live.
